What to See and Do in Costa Rica

If Costa Rica had a national motto, anyone who has visited would tell you it’s “Pura Vida”. Pura Vida means pure life, and that’s what you can expect when visiting this gorgeous country. This country boasts a ton of amazing activities to do and incredible things to see while you visit. There are things for all sorts of people. Endless surf for the bros who are looking to work on their tans and board skills. Jungles and Volcanoes for those outdoorsman who enjoy breaking a sweat while hiking up to that perfect vantage point. Costa Rica is known for its world class beaches and even more specifically its world class surf. Come beginners, come experts, the surf caters to all skill groups. Head to the surf town of Tamarindo and head straight for Tamarindo beach to get your feet wet. A few more spots for all the surfers flocking to catch the perfect wave, Playa Grande, Playa Langosta, Playa Negra, and Playa Marbella boasts some of the best waves in the region and will keep you busy for a long time. If the waves aren’t for you, head to your local dive shop and get suited up for a day exploring the pacific ocean. Experience the feeling you get when you see a six foot stingray swim right under you. The sheer fear and excitement you experience when you notice that figure in the distance could have been a shark. Either way, the diving in Costa Rica is first class and should not be missed. At the end of an adventure filled day on or in the water make sure to head back to Tamarindo Beach, grab an Imperial and enjoy a jaw dropping sunset Costa Rica has to offer. After you experience the beach you wouldn’t think things could get better, but you’d be wrong. Head back in land and the things you can do continue to grow tenfold. Arenal Volcano is an active volcano you can see while hiking around the region. These breathtaking views are ones that cause inspiration and is well worth whatever trek you take to get that perfect picture.

After a long day of hiking, head to one of the hot springs located by the volcano for a relaxing evening to unwind and soak those sore muscles. The next day, let the adrenaline junky within come out and book a tour to the closest zip lining adventure! Close to one thousand meters in length and 100 meters high, these zip lines will certainly get your heart pumping! One of the best ways to visit the countryside besides through the air is on the ground, straddling a high performance ATV. Rip through the countryside and see this wonderful country up close and personal. You may end up a little dirty but it’ll be worth the story of how you drove next to a wild boar on a jungle path. Costa Rica has activities for all people, all ages, all comfort levels. The only disservice you would be doing is not going there and trying to push some of those comfort levels. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” If you can’t think of a reason this statement doesn’t ring true, it’s time to live the Costa Rican lifestyle of Pure Vida.
